Rekindle Your Passion During Quarantine

Everyone is passionate about something. Whether that passion is a hobby, personal development, faith, work or any other assortment of items. It seems as we go through life and accrue more aspects of responsibility (career, family growth, medical issues, debt, the busyness of life, a traumatic event, etc.) we often either:

  1. Lose focus of where your passion lays

  2. Don't prioritize it because other things seem more important

I was recently on Jerome Myers' podcast, Dreamcatchers, where I realized how easily you can lose focus on what you most enjoy, including me. (podcast below)

Through Jerome's questions, my answers and reflecting on our conversation afterward it really made me realize my personal passions have diminished over the past few years because of many of the reasons above.

"How Do I Know If I Have Lost Focus Of My Passions?"

Do you feel like what you do only serves other people?

Are you able to spend time alone (including whether you have a spouse/kids/or both)?

When was the last time you did something for yourself and enjoyed personal time?

If you have difficulty answering any of these OR you honestly cannot, allow yourself a chance to become better both for yourself and for others.

Serving others is amazing, but there are times where personal time, your own enjoyment, reflection, scribing, meditation and more need to take priority.

Making time for yourself is one of the most important times of the day/week to not only grow as a person, but it gives you time to think about things going on in your life. Time which allows you to ask questions similar to "How can I better my life?" and "Which areas of my life can benefit from growth?".

Taking time for yourself whether in the morning/evening, a workout, walking your pup, cooking, etc. not only helps clear your mind but helps you think within.

How Can I Find What I'm Passionate About?

One of the easiest ways is to think about what you most enjoy about the now, but what did you enjoy in the past? Do you wish you still had time to do some of those things you don't do anymore?

If you wish you still had time for things you don't do anymore, MAKE TIME. Life is about enjoyment and you're only given so much time on this planet. If you enjoy doing something, go after it, make time for it. If you want others involved, invite them. Tell them why you enjoy it, maybe they'll find passion in it as well.

USE THE CURRENT QUARANTINE:

The quarantine is a great time to spend thinking and reflecting on what you most enjoy in life. Challenge yourself to become better and create new habits during this time of isolation. Some of the biggest and best ideas come after a difficult time (like the quarantine), so work on yourself. Give your life happiness. Give your mind inspiration and excitement for when quarantine is over to reignite your passion(s)

What Are You Passionate About?

I find passion in being outdoors, cooking (especially grilling), spending quality time with family/friends, and personal development.

Passion is different for everyone, so time time to figure out or rekindle what you're passionate about and START DOING IT!

What are you passionate about and why?

What drove passion to that thing?

Cherish every moment and don't forget to Balance Your Life.
